Kathleen Dawes isn't a pilot but she's sure added fun and sex appeal to the general
aviation industry.
For more than 10 years, Ameritech Industries, which she and her brother Kerry own, has
been turning out a line of colorful propellers with hand-painted designs. They're now
fixtures at air shows -- featured on planes of aerobatics stars like Julie Clark and Mary
Dilda.
Before Ameritech, propellers came in basically one color -- battleship gray with white
tips. "This is going to be a boring industry," Dawes remembers thinking. "I
